Hiking on the Petzen

 

The Petzen, located in the Karawanken Geopark, offers a hiking offer for the whole family - there are short pleasure hiking trails for young and old explorers, but also challenging hiking routes.

 

The following tour descriptions serve as a guide for an adventurous and unforgettable hike. For your safety, we recommend that you only use the marked trails. Please also observe the general rules of conduct for hikes in alpine terrain.

Via ferrata "Walter Mory"

 

Entrance:
Starting from the valley station: Ascent via "Krischasteig" (marked P3, 603) to the junction to the left at 1450 m above sea level. After about 10 minutes - at 1,530m - the via ferrata begins. The exit is at the fireplace (1,695m) below the mountain station of the Petzen cable car. There is an exit point in the middle of the via ferrata. (1,600m). Starting from the mountain station, the via ferrata can be climbed in a circular tour. Descent (marked P3, 603) to the Krischahütte (1,670m); then downhill to the junction to the right at 1,450 m above sea level.

 

Difficulty:
The via ferrata is secured almost entirely with ropes, cross passages and slabs are provided with iron steps. No problem for experienced climbers, but surefootedness and a head for heights are required. Harness and helmet required! For weaker participants, the use of rope is strongly advisable!
